Vallisneria

Vallisneria, a native, grass-like plant, is considered by DNR to be a beneficial species for fish, waterfowl, and invertebrates. Most of the time, it's submerged, but in August it extends corkscrew-like stems to Lake Johanna's surface with tiny flowers. Unlike other native species, it's not very responsive to contact herbicides, especially after the first treatment.
