Urgent - No Wake 24x7 until water level lowers

posted Jul 16, 2011, 3:04 PM by Keith Gilbert
Due to the heavy rain fall, the lake level continues to rise, even at this time. It is expected to reach the highest level later today due to the runoff from Rosedale through Little Johanna.

The Sheriff Water Patrol has been contacted and will likely be placing a sign at the public landing to require the no wake or potentially close the landing until further notice.

The reason for the action is two fold. First is the safety concern - there are logs, dock pieces, etc., floating in the water that are a hazard to boats and passengers (including skiers or tubers).

Second is the preservation of your lake shore. As you are aware, when the water is high and waves hit the shoreline, there is considerable erosion and damage that can not be reversed.

Please only travel at 5 mph until the lake level lowers. Also, if you see any logs or floating “lost” items, please remove them from the lake. Lost items can be posted on the website. www.ljis.org

I will let you know if there are any updates from Sheriff Water Patrol.
