JULY 4 BOAT PARADE

The annual Lake Johanna Boat Parade is planned for Friday, July 4.  Boats will gather on the west side of the lake, north of Presbyterian Homes, at 11:00am (after the lake speed limit of 5mph kicks in) and begin to circle the lake at 11:30.  Decorate your boat and join the parade - we had many boats in last year's parade.  For those unable to join the parade, spectators are encouraged on docks and shore with flags and cheers.

SECOND VEGETATION TREATMENT TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED

Lake Restoration will survey the lake again during the week of June 30.  If the weather cooperates, they will be back to treat participating lakeshore properties for a second time during the week of July 7.  This second treatment is focused on slower-growing vegetation that may not have been affected by application of the first treatment in early June.

GOOSE REMOVAL UNDERWAY

Now that the local geese are molting, and not flying, our goose removal contractor has been active.  On Friday, June 20, they visited Tony Schmidt Park, Presbyterian Homes Johanna Shores, and any other locations on the lake where geese were present.  Removal activities were suspended last year because too few geese were seen on the lake.  However, removal was resumed this year due to increased numbers.

MISSING DOCK SECTIONS. BOATS, OR SHORELINE EQUIPMENT

At least one LJIS member has reported a lost dock section due to the high water conditions on Lake Johanna.  If you've lost or found a dock section, boat, or other shoreline possessions, send an email with the information to Gregg Larson (larso279@umn.edu).  We'll try to match the owners with the finders.
